Out of Pocket Expenses

  • The cost of procedures varies with the type of procedure and its complexity; please ensure you enquire about any costs prior to the procedure.
  • Other list of fees is displayed in our waiting room area. Please ask our receptionist staff if you have any questions about fees that are not addressed by the information displayed. It is practice policy that all accounts are settled in full on the day of your consultation.
  • Travel vaccines will incur an additional fee.
  • Medical consumables used as part of your treatment may attract a separate fee.
Medical Gap

Why Is There a Medical Gap?

A medical gap (or out-of-pocket cost) is the difference between your doctor's fee and the combined amount of the Medicare rebate and the benefit your private health insurer will pay for a medical service. Government Medicare rebates have not kept pace with the increasing costs of delivering treatment.

Government’s indexation of Medicare rebates has never kept pace with the rising cost of medical practice. On average AWE and CPI increase by 3% per year. Practice costs rise by the same amount. Medicare rebates only increased by 1.7% on average per year.

  • How can I book an appointment?

    For appointments, you can simply click on the button “Request An Appointment” on our website or by calling our friendly staff during our clinic business hours from Monday- Friday on (03) 9654 9135.

  • Should I arrive earlier to my appointment?

    We ask you to please attend our clinic 5-10 minutes prior to your appointment time to complete the required paperwork in order for our doctors to run on time.

  • Will I be able to fill out the New Patient Information form before I come in to your practice?

    Of course, we recommend to download and print a new patient information form that is found on our website and complete it before your scheduled appointment.

  • If I can’t make it to my appointment, will there be a cancellation fee?

    If you are unable to make it to your appointment, please call and inform us on (03) 9654 9135. A cancellation fee may apply.

  • Will I be notified when my results are ready?

    Our practice has a computerised recall and reminder system that complies with current RACGP standards. Please make an appointment 2-3 days after your tests are completed to discuss your results with the doctor.

  • Is there parking facilities nearby?

    Yes, there is street parking available in surrounding areas subject to MCC parking regulations.

  • Who will be able to access my medical information?

    Your medical record is a confidential document. It is a policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised staff members. A more detailed privacy policy is available at reception.

  • Will I be able to speak with a doctor over the phone if an emergency?

    Although most problems are best dealt with in consultation, a doctor will always be available during normal surgery hours for emergency advice. Our staff are experienced in helping you decide whether the matter requires an appointment, a return phone call from the practice or in an emergency dial 000.

  • Is your practice registered with the Translation and Interpreters Service?

    Our practice is registered with the Translation and Interpreters Service. If you require interpreting services please advise the receptionist.

  • Will my appointment be running on time?

    We will do our best to see all patients as close to their appointment time as possible, however, emergencies are given first priority.

  • I need to see a doctor about a problem that may require a longer appointment.

    If you want an insurance medical, Centrelink forms, review of a complex health problem, counselling for emotional difficulties, or a second opinion, please book for a longer appointment so that your problem will get the attention it desires. Please bring relevant letters and test results from other doctors. Some of these services are not claimable from Medicare and attract a fee.

  • How can I make a suggestion or comment about your practice?

    If you are unhappy with any aspect of the care you receive from this practice we are keen to know about it. Feel free to talk to your doctor or receptionist about any problems you have. We believe that problems are best dealt with within the practice but if still dissatisfied you may contact the Health Service Commissioner. Toll Free: 1800 136 066.

  • If I cannot attend your clinic, will a doctor be able to make a home visit?

    Our doctors will make home visits if absolutely necessary for clinic patients who cannot attend the clinic.
